mail rules not working since IE8

After installing MSIE 8 my message rule for my second email address is not
working in windows mail. I have the second email address going into a
specific folder, it used to work fine then stopped working since IE8. I
checked the settings and they are fine and made up another rule and that one
won't work either. Need help please, its a pain switching back and forth
between email addresses.

Save yourself the aggravations. Un-install IE 8. It will revert back to IE 7
automatically.

I'm not aware that IE8 can cause that type of problem, so it may be
just a coincidence.
Can you paraphrase the rule and post it here?

1. Select the Conditions you rule:
Where the to line contains people is checked
2. Select the Actions for your rule:
Move it to the Specific Folder is checked
3. Rule Description:
Apply this rule after the message arrives is checked
Where the To line "contains 'my email address'
Move it to the:
'Inboxmyemailaddress' folder
name of the rule: New Mail #1

As I stated earlier this has been working for at least a year now and maybe
a fluke but since IE 8 this will not work anymore and I have removed and
redone the rule and it still won't pull the mail off the server.

"Pulling mail off the server" has nothing to do with a Message Rule
filtering an incoming message to a specified folder, June. Does such a
message download into Windows Mail at all?

Do you have any other Rules? Have you tried ending the Rule with "Stop
processing more rules"?

Well it used to. Over a year ago I set this up and my mail was pulled into
windows mail from this secondary account along with the main account. The way
it was set up was to pull the secondary email and direct it into its own
folder so I wouldn't have to switch between identities. Maybe I explained it
badly the first time around. Both accounts are set up to retrieve mail from
my email account directly into Windows mail, but instead of the two emails
mixing together, I have set it up saying anything that comes in through the
secondary email address should be directed to its own folder which I created.
Up until a short while ago this worked fine. Then one day it stopped
working. My main email account still works fine but the secondary account
won't pull the email from the server. The only difference on my system that
I am aware of is the installation of IE8. Other than the updates to my
system nothing new has been added or changed. This is the only computer I
have installed the IE 8 on so I can't say if its happening on the other
systems I have.

So you're not getting any new messages that were sent to the secondary
account?

Let's say your primary account is a (e-mail address removed) account: Is the secondary
account also a (e-mail address removed) account or is it a, e.g., (e-mail address removed)
account?

Do you have two (2) separate Mail accounts configured in WinMail Tools |
Accounts | Mail, or just one (1) account?

The secondary account, the mail is no longer coming into Windows Mail.

I have two different email addresses. Both are setup in Windows Mail tools,
the first email address is mail.emailaddress.net (default) and the second
is mail.differentemailaddress.net (1). I have checked both email addresses
to make sure that they are spelled correctly. This all worked fine up until
recently then the second email address stopped coming into windows mail. To
view the mail from the second email address I have to go to web mail.

Since you have yet to find a solution, perhaps my suggestion is not as
stupid as it sounds.
How about save all the messages from your 2nd account to a disk or to
Storage Folder, remove the account, re-create the account. Now, see the NEW
2nd account will download at all.

That is one thing I haven't tried yet thanks will try it, I don't need to
back up anything since with the message rules the email is going into my
first account box just in its own folder. Will let you know if that worked.

If messages sent to the (e-mail address removed) account are being
automatically forwarded to the (e-mail address removed) account, the messages
should be available in the inbox of the (e-mail address removed) account's
webmail page: Are they?

If messages sent to the (e-mail address removed) account are NOT being
automatically forwarded to the (e-mail address removed) account, the messages
should be available in the inbox of the (e-mail address removed)
account's webmail page: Are they?

NB: Is the (e-mail address removed) account was one you had with your
previous ISP, there's a very good chance that the account doesn't exist
anymore.

Messages sent to (e-mail address removed) are not available in the
inbox of (e-mail address removed).

Yes (e-mail address removed) is available on accounts webmail page.

I have had this same ISP for years, nothing has changed.
(e-mail address removed) is a good email address all the mail is on the
webmail page. It just won't forward anymore into the Windows mail.

Problem solved. Thank you for trying to help me with this problem. Your
questions kept me checking and rechecking settings and information. Also
thank you t-4 2 for suggesting I remove the email account and redo it.

I went into the Windows mail tools and pulled up the account and checked the
settings one more time and started to right them down, when I noticed the
account name had changed somehow. This is a mystery as I am the only one
that uses this system. Anyway the account name had been changed to my main
account name. I changed it to the secondary account name again and applied
it and sure enough the email came through. Without your suggestions I would
have been staring at this forever trying to figure it out. Thank you to both
of you for your help and suggestions.

The mention of removing IE8, right now I will continue to use it. I have
had only a few minor glitches with it, but have been able to upgrade things
or get around them for things to work properly. If everyone removed new
software for glitches here and there we would still be using windows 3.1 :)

I see in your later posts that the issue with not receiving emails from your
second account has been resolved.

Incidentally, your message rule is not optimum. It will not catch emails
where you are on the CC or BCC line.
It's better to use the Condition, "Where the message is from the specified account."
