Mail Notification, ie:junk mail

Is there a way to have the "mail notification", at the bottom of the screen,
only show new mail if it's regular mail, and not show if it's junk mail ? I
don't want to check the mail if it's only one piece of junk mail. I'd hate to
turn up the filter and miss something important.

No, not that I know of.

All e-mail comes into the Inbox, then is moved if rules are applied or are
detected as Junk Mail.

Since it comes into the Inbox first, it's new mail and the notification gets
set.

Now, if there had been a way to set the notification for each folder that
would have been nice but then, you have user created folders and well, you
can see where it could get the coding added with all sorts of checking and
error checking and just slow it down even more.

So one place to set the notification and if something happens to stick
around or pass thru, it gets set.

Too bad my OETune program doesn't work in Vista. It was a willing casualty
to the loss of the dbx files.
