Mail Messages Not Linking (non autolink)

We do not have autolink turned on. However from a Business Contact we
select New Mail Message and send an email. It does not however show up in
the Business Contact History Items section of the contact.

We can manually go to our Sent Items and link it but I was under the
assumption if we started a mail message from the contact it would link it.

I'm obviously not correct. Any ideas?

Hi Sean

If you send an email to a Business Contact it will not automatically display
under the history section, the reason being the contact in BCM are stored in
a database whereas the mail messages are stored in a pst file in outlook. For
them to show up you can either use the email auto linking feature or
manually link them to the contacts.

I just assumed that, since if you choose new File or Note it will link, that
starting the mail message from this same dialogue would link it. Seems a
bit non-intuitive IMHO.

Thanks.

There's a privacy catch. If you say do NOT store my email messages
(presumably because you don't want the other shared users seeing them)
then sending a message from a Contact shouldn't silently override that
rule and store the message. If you don't care about email privacy, just
turn the autolink on--and that's the case with a private database.

OK, I can see that. I guess maybe there should be a new message and linked
new message buttons. The other commands from this dialogue link
information. This one does not. It's a consistency in the UI issue more
than anything else.
