Mail Merge using different office products

I would like to mail merge a contact list from out 2003 into word 2002. If
that is not possible. Do I need to upgrade both Outlook and word to 2007, or
can I upgrade just word to 2007 and still be able to mail merge from out 2003?

You mail merge from Word to Outlook, not the other way around. The
version of Word and Outlook must match for the integration to work.
