Mail Merge Foreign Characters In MS Access

Hi
I am trying to create a database of japanese characters with their meanings
and examples of their use in MS Access. This is so I can mail merge the data
into MS Word, as I am looking to create flashcards, all with the same
formatting. I have installed the Japanese patches off the Microsoft Website
and some Japanese fonts so there are no issues with the characters actually
being displayed whilst I am typing out my database. However, when I tried to
mail merge the database in MS Word, in the 'Mail Merge Recipents' dialouge
box, all the Japanese characters turn into question marks, meaning that they
also show up as question marks in MS Word. I know that this is a tricky one,
but could anyone shead any light on this?

Regards
Chris
