macros disappeared

I set up about 20 macros and stored them to a template called proposal.dot
and created a custom toolbar. They all worked fine until I shut down and
reopened Word. Now my toolbar says they are not there. Some of them were
old, so when asked if I wanted to replace the macro when I saved, I said yes
to overwrite and the old ones still appear on a different custom toolbar.
When I go into Macros, the new macros do not show on my Macro list, only the
old list.
Help!

You would need to save that template in the Word\Startup folder or at least
create a document based on the template for the macros in the template to be
available.

I pulled in the template in the documents through add-ins, but the macros
are still missing.
