Macromedia Flash et al

All to frequently I am prompted to load some piece of third party
software such as Macromedia Flash. I would like to inhibit these
prompts totally. What needs to be done?

Flash (and shockwave) are used when you visit sites with
animation like movie sites. without it you can not get
the full benefit of these sites. it is small and
harmless plug-in. some sites offer option to use flash
or not but very few of these.

I have that annoying piece of claptrap, Macromedia Flash didabled. Sites think I have it, but I am
not annoyed. Disabled with SpywareBlaster, which has a lot of other very fine features.
SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from ever being installed.

I've had flash/shock on computers from win98 days and
have never had problems with it. and i don't see any
advertisers using it. i visit 100+ sites worldwide per
week and without flash 50% would not be viewable. one of
the first programs installed on my computers.

Get the free utility No!Flash from
http://www.geocities.jp/baryonlee/noflash/ This blocks Flash, including all
the annoying ads, but allows you to turn it on if you want to with a single
click of the icon in the system tray.

Ahhh...thank you. It's like a breath of fresh air to be able to
browse IMDB (for example) and not be constantly hammered with that
annoying crap.

I didn't realize there were so many Flash killers to choose from. I
happened to grab this one and it seems to do the job. Appreciate all
the reponses.
