machine wants to install SP2

One of our users has an XP sp1 machine that he uses at home to access our
systems. He downloaded and attempted to install the SP2 patch. For whatever
reason it was unable to install the patch BUT now everytime he logs on his
machine, it walways comes up and wants to install the spatch again - since
it was already downloaded.

How can he prevent the machine from wanting to reinstall the SP2 patch every
time he logs in? Is there a registry entry somewhere that is causing this?

There is an MS utility that temporarily--for as long as you want--prohibits
the SP2 installation...take a look here:

It's not for as long as you want. It goes until April, 2005.
