Each time we start the PC, the message pops
that "Machine debug manager has encountered a problem and
needs to close. Please tell microsoft about the
problem" . We are using Windows XP, SP 1. Please advise
on how to fix this problem.

Unfortunately Rick, it isn't as simple a fix as that.
I gave the OP a site on a "How To" for the MDM.exe.

It is part of anything Office 2000 and newer. For me, I had stop it through TM, then uncheck it in msconfig, then go into services.msc, and stop/disable it there, and rename the files (MDM.exe, and PDM.dll) to something like .old, to prevent it from coming back. If you do a repair of Office, or get a major ypdate (i.e.. SP1 for Office 2003),it will resurface again.

Hi Tom,

For the version in Office2K yes, but for XP or 2K3 disabling it via msconfig
should be sufficient.

Hey,

I have Office 2K3 and I have to do this, or it just reappears like a nasty zit. One of the first things I tried was removing from msconfig, but when I restarted, it was again showing up in the TM.
