M-Systems uDOC - what does it cost? A few other questions.

We are very concerned about XPe boot time and want to shorten it as much
as possible.

Sean Leming's "XP Embedded Supplemental Toolkit" speaks highly of the
M-Systems uDOC deivce as an alternate solution to hosting the OS on
flash media. His site points to an online store that sells a 256
megabyte version.

We need the gigabyte version and, incredibly, I cannot find any price
listing on the web. I realize that price may depend on volume, but I
would like to find some idea of what the cost per unit.

Is it really true that this will boot up significantly faster than an
IDE CF?

The show stopper for us may be the difficulty of finding a BIOS that
supports boot from USB 2.0. Any comments on that will be welcome. We
are currently planning on an Advantech SBC.

Thanks in advance,
Michael Bate

There are IDE flash disks (http://www.embeddisk.com/) that have DMA built in
that are just as fast. Some developers have alerted me to a few CF
manufacturers that are now building in DMA support.
(http://www.seanliming.com/flashhelp.html) Here is a couple CF makers that
others have told me about:
Simple Tech: http://www.simpletech.com/ - Some J2 versions have DMA
controllers

Silicon Systems: http://www.siliconsystems.com
