Lynksys Wireless USB Adapter

I having a %$^**!! of a time geting Linksys USB wirelss adapters work with
Vista.
I had a WUSB54G ver 4 (little blue/black box with antenna) and had
continuos disconnects. I downloaded the VISTA drivers from Linksys and I
couldn't connect after that.

I bought a brand new WUSB54GC Linksys wireless adapter (it looks like a
memory stick) and it works OK with a November 2005 driver that came with
it.... When I download the VISTA Drivers from Linksys or I use the Windows
Update for this hardware device, I cannot longer connect. I had to
uninstall the VISTA driver (and remove it) before it connects again with the
Nov 05 driver (which I assume is for XP).

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
mac

Same here. For me, the WUSB54G would disconnect after a certain amount of
data passed through it. For example, normal surfing was no problem. But when
i tried to download a file it would disconnect at around 200-300MB.

I decided to get a Belkin Vista compatible USB wireless adapter (long story
and not my first choice) to match the Belkin wireless router I already had
and now have no problems whatsoever (except Belkin's support which is a
different matter). ;)

You may want to consider utilizing a LinkSys forum or support to resolve
your issues. You are smarter than me for looking for Vista drivers. I made a
decision to walk away from Linksys a long time ago and replace whatever
didn't work on my system with a Vista certified version. I must have more
money than brains, but I'm not having any issues (easy to justify to the
wifey, too).

Good luck!

I have a WUSB54G V4 and it works just fine with Vista. I'm running it to a
D-Link DIR450 router. I have no disconnect problems. Vista "saw" the
wireless adaptor and all I had to do was enter the SSID (I don't broadcast
it) and the WEP key.

Have you checked anything else to determine a possible alternative cause of
the disconnects?

Sorry, I couldn't help.
