Wireless adapter "proper" but not detected

My Linksys wireless (USB) adapter shows as "working properly" in Vista
Ultimate's device manager, but is not detected when I run the "Install
wireless adapters" applet ("...searching for wireless devices..."
"...none found...").

I tried to update the driver in Device Mgr., but Vista indicates I've
got the best available.

I've never been able to connect to my wireless network via my Linksys
hdwe under Vista (dual booting with XP), only the internet via direct
connection to my residential gateway. XP always works great with the
Linksys stuff. I have to be missing something basic in my Vista
config, right?

Hi Dale, your adapter, the WUSB11, is not supported by Vista. You
need a WUSB54G you pin-head!
