lsass.exe error message

I have a XP Home edition machine.
I tried to boot up yesterday, but it stopped at a black
screen with the following message.

lsass.exe
Entry point not found

OK

When I pushed the OK icon it went to a totaly black
screen.

I have installed all of the current XP updates including
SP1.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

You can try a Repair Install. Here's a link with instructions:

Unfortunately, I've never had any luck doing that with this error and
have always had to do a complete format/clean install. Reinstall
programs from cd's, restore data from backups. Good luck.
