Low Virtual memory error

hi there. Please help. Im am using windows xp with 248MB
of ram. however when i used some applications. It turns
out that there is a pop up message stating low memory and
asking me to close some of the applications. How can i
solve this problem ? Thank you

If I were you I would install more ram because 248mb isn't really enough
for todays applications or you try disabling all non essential programs
that you have running in the background.

Since the error is just with some programs, what is similar about them? Do
they place large demands on memory/virtual memory? How do you have
the pagefile setup? Let Windows manage or something else? If the pagefile
needed to enlarge for those programs, is there sufficient space for that to
happen?
