BlankNo matter what I do...surfing or just leaving the computer on with all
programs closed, my available memory keeps on going down and down, till the
system freezes..

I have Windows XP... with 90% free space on my harddrive. What could be
causing this?

Help please.

Run a complete antivirus scan with updated signatures and ensure you are
spyware free.

Have done all that and my system is clean. I just noticed that something
happened to my Norton Anti Virus program around the time the time the
problem occurred. I just removed Norton from my system. (I have quite a
few other ani-spyware programs, so I'm safe till I can get the newer version
of Norton System Works to install again...). I'll see if having the
corrupted Norton was causing all my system errors. Could that be a
possibility?

After removing Norton's from my system, there hasn't been any freezes. I've
kept the pc on for 2 days straight, and everything is working smoothly. I
can now assume that it was a corrupted Norton file. I do have other virus
programs on my system, so removing it didn't cause any safety concerns.

I now have a new Norton System Utilities, and I'm kind of afraid to download
it. :-) Will make sure for a few more days that everything is till working
fine, then I'll take the plunge. If it happens again, then I'll just remove
it permanently.
