Low Disk Space

I have been fighting with my low disk space problem for some time, following
the suggestions posted for disk clean up, moving all non-windows xp files to
my non-operating partition side, and I keep loosing the battle. My last
effort was to add a 250 GB slave hard drive, formated to NTFS to add space
but that is not working also.
My system is a Compaq ME, that burned up the hard drive. I had the drive
replaced with a 64 GB drive (by my son) and he made it Windows XP, with (E)
4.09 GB NTSF that is my operating side with 150 MB of free space. (C) with
23.8 GB FAT 32 that has my photos, MS word, excel, Adobe files with 20.8 GB
free space.
My son, who installed the new drive lives 1000's of miles away and is to
busy to help, other than to say replace the drive.
When i had Best Buy add the new drive (F), they made sure it could be read,
and I see the 232 GB of space. My other son-in-law, tried to install the
windows XP program on to the new drive (F), but it would not accept it since
it was older than the service packs that have been added.
I would like to install XP on the new drive (F) and make sure it is working,
the wipe the (E) drive.
Suggestions?

Well your o/s drive of 4.09gb is too small 10/15gb would be more like it,
assuming you install apps to another drive.
If you intend to install winxp on a new drive you are going to have to
reinstall all your apps also.
Either buy a third party tool, eg Partition Magic and amend your primary
drive partition sizes, or connect only the master drive, clean install
winxp. Update it with security updates, then reconnect other drives as
slaves and delete any partitions on the old E and create anew.
You will have to reinstall all apps.
There is not a lot of advantage in installing apps to a seperate partition,
data maybe

Bring your old Windows CD up to date with SP2 by creating a slipstreamed CD.
I Use AutoStreamer, it easy to use and for the most part self explanatory

Also since you are going to wipe Windows from the old drive, why not copy
what is on this drive that you want to save (Photos, data files, etc.) to
the new larger drive. Then disconnect the new larger drive, install windows
to the older and smaller drive by creating one primary partition during the
install process.
