Lost Word document

I emailed a word document home. I think I must have
opened it directly from the email attachment and started
working on it. I did a LOT of work on it, clicked save
and "x"ed out (I thought that I had saved it in my
documents, but I hadn't). Where would it go if I saved
it? Is there a chance it still exists on my hard drive?
I've done every kind of search I can think of without
success. I'm using WinXP and MS Office 2000

What email program do you use and what type of email, POP3,
HTTP, IMAP

WORD would save the file in MY Documents so look for files
created or modified on the date in question.

Unless you named the file, it is likely saved with a generic
name, but if it is a WORD file it should be .doc but if it
was really a different word processor program file, look for
file extensions used by your program.

Okay, and if you're searching, check to see that explorer is looking
"everywhere". Explorer defaults to hiding system and hidden folders, (in
explorer extra - file options - second tab) you can modify what explorer
shows. If you select "show hidden file and folders you could reseach c:\
looking for ALL files changed on the day in question. The reason I add this
is that the email program often unpacks the document in it's own directory-
which is in outlooks case hidden (local settings).

Another tip could be - mail another word doc home. Open en modify it (at
home). And then choose file - save as. This is possibly the directory (or a
directory next to it) that your mail program uses to save it's attachments.
