Lost Windows XP Disc, can I download from microsoft site?

Hi
I sent my computer away to a repair shop about a year ago for repair. When
we got it back we mustn't have been given the disc back with the Windows XP
on it. As I am a registered user can I download the XP from the microsoft
site? Also how do we configure the product key like it says on the help
page, I have one on my laptop copy but it is configured like
this:xxxxx-xxxxx-xx999-xxxxx-xx9xx, so the configuration referred to on the
help page is not understandable to me. Thanks for any helpful suggestions.
as I really need to clear my computer and start from scratch by reloading XP
again.

XP is not downloadable for the average user, if it's a retail disk contact
Microsoft for a replacement, if it's OEM contact the PC mfg.
