Hello, everyone,
I used to have the volume icon displayed on the task bar,
but it disappeared, and when I go to Sounds and Audio
Devices Properties and choose place volume icon in task
bar, I receive a warning that the volume control program
has not been installed. When I go to add/remove programs,
volume control is not an option. I can't find it anywhere
in the computer. I found this info at the Microsoft
website:
SYMPTOMS
The Volume Control icon is not displayed on the taskbar.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the system tray is not being
loaded at startup.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue:
Click Start, click Run, type msconfig in the Open box,
and then click OK.
On the Startup tab, click System Tray (SysTray.exe) so
that a check mark appears next to this item.
Click OK, and then click Yes when you are prompted to
restart the computer.
....but systray.exe is not an option under the startup tab.
I searched and found the systray.exe file, but it is one
of those invisibles/untouchables as far as I (a simple
mortal) am concerned.
Can anybody help?
Thanks!
