I can not open any of the games on my PC ie spider solitaire etc. a message comes up which reads:this file does not have a file associated with it for performing this action.create an association in the set association control panel.
I have deleting some backup files that I thought where surplus after upgrading to Vista from XP.
can anyone tell me what to do? I did do a restore but that made no difference.
thank you.

Thanks for that I put my DVD in.I am only a novice, I got as far as entering the product key but the only two options I was faced with were upgrade or full install, no repair option.

I have looked again and I dont have that option on my DVD I only have
what to know before installing windows,
transfer files to another computer,
copyright 2007 Microsoft corporation all rights reserved.
Is there some other way to retrieve the files I have deleted?
mine is a student copy with Service pack 1

Bloody MS and their 15,000 different copies of Windows ... nearly as bad as Linux.

OK, try looking in ... add remove "windows" components ... It was renamed in Vista to Programs and Features and is found in Control panel.

Or just type from the start button ... programs

this may help then read this scroll down to the games bit.
