Hi,
Before I reinstalled XP Pro when I right clicked on a folder and selected
properties the window would open with 4 tabs; General, Shared, Security, and
Customize. After installation I've lost the Security tab. Suggestions on
getting it back? I'm sure it's a simple option selection but I can't
remember where it is.

Thanks!

First, you must be running NTFS as your file system. If so, in Windows
Explorer, go to Tools, Folder Options, View and uncheck Use Simple File
Sharing.

I have a similar problem, my General Tab disappeared, all
others are still there starting with Security as the first
tab.

I do have NTFS, followed your directions and there is no
such entry as "Use Simple File Sharing" under View.

Now what, back up 10 yards and punt? (smile)

tool, folder options, view (in explorer), scroll way down - what is the
bottom tick box?

Following this seems to fix the file sharing issue but what about the
Security Tab? I still can't restore this one. Is there some other locale
that controls this?

Thanks

The last item in View is:
Show Pop-up description for folder and desktop items.
It has a checkmark in it.

The fix you mention is for Internet Options, not Folder Options.
