Lost profile after domain to workgroup transition

U

ugh

I'm running Windows XP on a client that was authenticating
to a domain on a Windows 2000 Server. The server domain
is no longer available, so I decided to switch the client
settings from the domain to a workgroup. The domain
profile, however, now comes up as an 'Account Unknown'
user profile. The corresponding folders (my docs,
desktop, etc) seem to have disappeared. As reconnecting
to the domain is not an option, is there any way to access
the files associated with the former domain profile?

Thanks!

Open your C: drive, then Documents and Settings, then the logon name of the
computer when it belonged to the domain. You'll find that identity's
information there.
