Lost pin to start menu

This is an odd one:

On a new install of winxp pro (with sp2 slipstreamed), I don't have the
"Pin to start menu" item when right clicking on a program or shortcut. I
don't know if I never had it or had it and lost it.

Googled newsgroup and found that someone had the same problem and the
solution was to check "enable drag and drop" in the start menu adv.
options. It's checked! I tried my other XP machine and turning that
on/off has no effect on whether "Pin to start menu" appears.

suggestions? thanks.

Make sure that you're using Windows XP Theme, and the XP Start Menu. If the
option does not appear, then type this command in Start, Run:

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll
