Lost my Windows Icons

This is really stupid. I installed XP Home edition over
my Win ME. The XP Home edition is the full version.
There was an option to uninstall Win ME, and I opted for
it.

Now that XP is installed, I don't have ME available. I'm
used to upgrading (95-98-ME), and those installations
kept all my desktop icons.

Am I hosed now, and do I have to manually reinstall all
the desktop icons, my IExplorer favorites and everything?

The data may not have been taken over correctly. Check the WINDOWS
folder for a subfolder DESKTOP and if this exists and contains your
old icons: move the items to C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALL
USERS\DESKTOP where they belong now.
The same is valid for the Favorites which are stored in
WINDOWS\FAVORITES in earlier Windows versions and now can be found in
DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\{username}\FAVORITES.

XP" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=312942).
