lost my show desktop icon

i have lost my show desktop icon which sits next to the start button. i have
deleted by mistake n also emptyed my recycle bin. can someone tell me or show
me how to do it.

This is a old Win98 response but still valid if you read it with care:

or try this:

You have deleted the Show Desktop shortcut from the Quick Launch Bar.

You should have a copy in the System folder, normally
C:\Windows\System or C:\Windows\System32
Just copy "Show Desktop.scf" to (Win9x)
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
or for XP/Win2K
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Quick Launch
