Lost my keyboard, cant' log on.

I have a Memorex MX2700 keyboard. I installed their
Maestro software to enable the special keys, (shutdown,
explorer, mail, volume controls, etc.) Since I rebooted I
haven't been able to log on. XP seems to be ingoring the
keyboard.

It's definately an XP issue, since I'm currently using the
same PC and keyboard with a dual boot Win2000 install.

I've tried booting in safe mode and using last known good
configuration, but both failed. I've tried replacing
keyboard.sys, keyboard.drv, and kbdclass.sys, and I've
copied keyboard.sys to maestro0.sys, but the keyboard
still fails to function at the sign on screen. I do have
mouse functions and can click on the help option.

I really don't want to have to reinstall.

Well, Maureen, you did an excellent job of reproducing the OP's message.

Was there some else that you were thinking of adding?

I'll try the Memorex site. I can't check my control
panel, because I can't log on.

Thanks,

Barry

Sorry, I didn't realize that had been sent. I was going to advise the
poster to try system restore, but in re-read her message it doesn't
sound as though she can access that option.

Still, if she can click the start button system restore is at
programs, accessories, system tools. Or via RUN, type
restore
Then click restrui.exe.
