lost my identity

I somehow managed to lose my identity on W2K. While I can still log
on as adiministrator and can create new identities ,cannot log on
under my original identity.
Is there a way to retrieve my original identity from the harddrive and
possibly shift to a new identity that I am about to create or do I
need to start from scratch?

Kind Regards
Tom

If I go into my computer, user profile, I notice that the original
account xyz has become account unknown (showing 5mb data). While
there is a change type function, it does not allow me to do anything
with it.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

What other changes did you make? Did you reinstall windows or delete the
original account from user manager?
Regardless of that username on NT accounts every user account has a
different user ID number.

If you want to recover your original profile you will need to copy that
profile to the new one created and give yourself the right to use it. When
you copy the profile in you system properties on the user profile tab it
will ask for the account you want to have access to the profile.

Kevin,

Thanks for your reply. I am afraid I could not manage to retrieve my
data, had a friend try a few more things but ended up setting up a new
account. Unfortunately there were some other errors on my harddrive
with OE inoperative (MSOE.dll not being initialized), so I will wipe
everything and start fresh.

Kind Regards
Tom
