Hi. I had to re-image the c drive so I backed up 'my documents' to D Drive where it showed it copying files across. I also backed up 'my documents' to DVD.
Problem now is that the hard drive backup shows a folder structure but everything is empty. The DVD backup can be accessed and retrieved for all information except the 'my documents' folder. Data rescue programs will read the DVD structure down to document level, as will DOS, but so far only half a dozen txt files have been recovered, the rest stall and then report corrupted data or cyclic redundancy error.
I'm assuming the 'my documents' folder in the D Drive is empty as it says it is, but if anyone out there knows a way to confirm this I'd appreciate it. Also if there's a way I can free up the data in the dvd????
By the way re-image means a complete format and re-install of Windows XP Professional edition.
