Lost Mouse from Set

I have lost the moused for a wireless Keyboard/Mouse set. I still have the
original keyboard and reciever. Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 1.0A,
Model 1027. I went to the store where I originally purchased the set and they
said I had to get it from Microsoft. They said that each set is coded to only
work with each other. Is that true? How do I get a mouse wireless mouse that
will work with this set?

Have you considered it may be easier/cheaper to just buy a usb-powered
mouse? Below link to Newegg* shows over 150 choices beginning at $13.00.
Many of these (42 just now shown) are Microsoft branded. HTH, s (*NOT a
Newegg-investor, just a site I've used quite happily for several years
buying parts for personal use and for building/repairing friends' units.)

Buy a cheap USB cordless mouse, if you shop around you can get one cheaper
than a serial mouse was a couple of years ago.
