Lost mouse and keyboard use

I was following an online procedure to fix a problem with my computer, and
now suddenly I cannot use my mouse and keyboard. My computer boots up to the
screen where I can choose a profile, but without a keyboard or mouse I can't
choose anything. My mouse and keyboard work fine on a diiferent computer,
and I've tried a different one on my computer with no difference. Is there a
way to get these functioning again without having to reinstall Windows?
