Lost live connection to e-mail accounts ???

How do we start Outlook 2002 and have all of our e-mail accounts
automatically connect? We have upgraded computer systems, but now have to
select each e-mail account in the folder pane and then go to the FILE menu
and choose the option to "CONNECT TO . . . " for each of those accounts.
After doing that all of our e-mail accounts are connected live and
immediately update, receive, and send e-mail as there are changes.

However, in our old installation of Outlook 2002 we did not need to
separately connect each of our e-mail accounts, which are all HTTP MSN or
HOTMAIL accounts. We simply opened Outlook 2002 and all of the accounts
would already be connected live to the internet (an 'always on' or
persistent DSL connection). What has happened that our accounts do not
automatically connect to the internet when Outlook 2002 is opened?

You up graded your computer systems from what to what? Are you on a domain?

I'm not following you. Your "old" Outlook is 2002 or did you upgrade to
2002?

Thank you for the reply, Danny. In answer to your question, we have
upgraded the computer, not Outlook. Furthermore, we are not part of a
domain, but simply use a small peer-to-peer network. Nevertheless, we
suspect our network has little to do with the problem. The problem probably
lies with our e-mail account configuration or some obscure Outlook 2002
setting.

If you have used Outlook for sometime, you may have noted that simply
selecting an e-mail account folder in the left Outlook pane does not always
mean you are connected to that account. In some cases, you will drop-down
the FILE menu and note an option to 'CONNECT TO' the e-mail account which is
currently selected. In other words, you have selected the account, but are
not actually connected. As a result, the inbox and other folders will not
be updated in real time. However, you can select the 'CONNECT TO' option
and the e-mail account is immediately connected or becomes 'LIVE' as we say.
The problem is that all our accounts used to be 'live' immediately upon
starting Outlook, which meant we did not have to manually connect each
account using the 'FILE/CONNECT TO' menu option. The only variable to
change is that we are using a fresh installation of Outlook 2002 on a newer
computer. We suspect that the solution is quite simple, just hard to find.

I would suggest you make sure you have the latest service pack for the OS
and Office 2002 which is SP3 I think.
