Outlook 2007 multiple e-mail accounts

How can I set up multiple e-mail accounts (names) to send mail but not have
each of them receive (retrieve) the e-mail on the ISP server? I set up
three accounts one for our business, one for my wife, and one for myself, so
that the name shows on the e-mail message sent. I do use the same server and
email address for all of the accounts (names). This was working fine for
years, as I had the accounts set to remove the messages from the server (I
did not check “Leave a copy of messages on serverâ€).

Then we bought a lap-top and I want to be able to retrieve email from it as
well as the main desk-top computer, so I checked “Leave a copy of messages on
server†– “Remove from server after _3_ daysâ€.
With this setting, I have 3 days to check the same messages with the laptop.

Now, when I click receive, I get three copies of every message that is on
the server. I am unable to find any setting in Outlook 2007 to stop the
other two accounts from retrieving the messages from the server. I tried
setting a fake incoming mail server address (none.net), and it stopped the
receiving – However, I get multiple error messages every time Outlook
attempts to receive the messages.

When I search for “send e-mail but not receive†on forums or Google all I
get are many cases of problems not receiving e-mail.

Constructive solutions appreciated.

Only Outlook Express (and Windows Mail, I presume) have a rule such as you
describe - selectively download a message based on receiving address.
Outlook cannot distinguish the receiving address until the message has been
downloaded. All addresses sharing the same mailbox on the server will
always download using the first account to access the mailbox.

While viewing the Inbox, press Alt-Ctrl-S. Select the send/receive group
you're using (probably "All Accounts") and click Edit. select the each
account you DON'T want to receive mail and uncheck the box labeled "Receive
mail items" for that account. Click OK, then Close when done.

I forgot to add that you might ask your mail provider if you can get
separate mailboxes for each address or consider getting a gmail account for
each person. Then all your mail would truly be separate.
