Lost Inbox

Got a buddy here at work that has me stumped....

He has a personal folder set up in Outlook in which he has created a
separate "Inbox" folder. Basically as he gets emails, he has rules set up to
reroute them from his normal Inbox into the Inbox in his .pst file

He claims that he must have accidentally dragged his inbox into the Deleted
folder in the .pst file. Not knowing his Inbox was in there......he deleted
out his Deleted folder. Obviously his Inbox is nowhere to be found.

I know in Outlook's normal Deleted folder....it seems that once this is
emptied things can still be retrieved for a short amount of time. This does
not appear to be the case for the Deleted folder in the .pst file. What I
recommended was that he have our IT dept restore the .pst from a backup tape
on a previous date (since the .pst was on our network). Are there any
quicker options?

This may be his only hope:

If this does not work.. and you are running XP pro. Make sure you have
service pack 2 running. Close Outlook and browse to the network drive where
the pst file is in and right click on it. Select properties and you should
see a Previous Versions Tab. You will see that Windows saves a copy of the
same file on the network every day at 12pm (by default). Select the copy
that you had before the delete and copy it into a temp directory. Mount that
file in Outlook and you should be able to see the lost folder. Simply drag
the folder back to the right location before closing the previous version of
your pst file. (Only works if you have sp2 running on your xp pro)
