Lost Hard Drive Space After Restore

Help

I had downloaded SP2 for XP and would not install and allow internet
connection so a restore had been done a number of times to try and correct
it. I now have had a out of disk space warning for the C":\ disk partition.
there are thre other partitions but I use the C:\ for only the operating
system and associated files nothing else and it should only take up about 5 -
6 GB max which is what the file table in explorer and all other hard drive
inspection software shows.

Inspecting this with disk manager shows only 6 % of space 17 GB partition
remaining. The files listed show only about 6 GB used and any downloaded
software to inspect the drive does not show what is taking up the space.

I suspect that restore has a hidden cache somewhere which each time I
restored it took some of the drive space which can not be seen particularly
when the restore point is a long time back.

How can I restore the missing space, where is the restore information
located and can the restore information cache deleted and renewed with new
points???

Have found problem !!!

Restore does claim hard drive space more than the limits indicated on the
setup section.

To regainlost space turn off restore for all drives (after you have the best
restore point) then reset the individual drive restore percentage limits.
Then turn restore for all drives back on and the restore cache is deleted and
lost drive space is regained.
