Lost file

A coworker deleted a file from the desktop. I can find
the shortcut to where the file was originally located,
but am now unable to open it.

Is there any way I can recover or restore this file?

I am desperate!

Have you checked if the file is in the Recycle Bin? If this
hasn't been emptied, you should be able to find the file there.
Otherwise, the file is gone forever.
