I had got a error message: STOP: c0000218{Registry File Failure} the registry
cannot load the hive (file): \SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE. Ok, I did
the data recovery; reinstalled WindowsXP Home, did my service pack2 and I
still do not have Word, Excel, Access or PowerPoint. How can I get my
programs back? I need them for school. I believe everything is Microsoft
2000.

You'll just need to reinstall them. The files are probably there, but the
registry settings aren't, anymore.

These programs are not a part of Windows XP, they are MS Office programs.
You may need to reinstall them separately.

Same thing happened to me. Have you figured out how to get them back?

Having re-installed XP, you'll have to re-install MSOFFICE too.
Provided you did not re-format the hdd when you reinstalled XP, any
"workfiles" you had (excel, Word, etc) will still be there - you just need
to re-install OFFICE to use them!
And don't forget to use Update to get the OFFICE updates)

I borrowed a friend of mine CD that has MSOffice on it. I priced the Office
2003 for students and it didn't include Access which I needed for my class
and it ran $139 and some change from Wal-Mart, but the Wal-Mart by my house
didn't carry the Professional version.

Only if you ordered the computer with the pre-installed, or purchased
and installed them later.

Neither the Microsoft Office application suite, nor any of its
individual component applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
Outlook, etc.), have _ever_ been "part" of *any* Windows operating
system. They are, and always have been, separate applications, that
must be purchased and installed separately.

Click Start > All Programs > Microsoft Office. If the start menu
shortcuts don't exist, you most likely don't have the applications
installed. To be certain, do a simple file search for "Winword.exe,"
"Access.exe," "Excel.exe," and/or "Powerpnt.exe." If none of these
files exist on your hard drive, you don't have Office installed.
