Lost Email Messages

My IT guy recently moved all my customer folders to the Personal Folder. Now,
some of the subfolders and most of the email messages that were stored in
them are missing.

Two questions:

1. I’ve asked IT to restore the main Customer folder (along with it’s
subfolders) back to the date they were moved. Are there any alternatives to
this solution?
2. I don’t think it was necessary to move my files to the Personal Folder
since I’m already on a Microsoft Exchange Server. Am I right? My *.pst was
already on a shared drive that was backed up daily.

Then it should like he didn't move them correctly.

Move them correctly.

Typically, with an Exchnage server you don't need a PST. If there are
insufficient quotas on the mailboxes, however, it's sometimes necessary.
PSTs should not be on shared drives, however, as this can lead to corruption
of the PST and data loss. Keep the PST on your hard drive and copy it to
the network share from time to time.

Wow! This doesn't make a lot of sense! I meant to type ,"Then it looks
like he didn't move them correctly."
