lost earlier document when I forgot to save under new name

I write my sermons each week by opening the previous week's and start making
changes, then I save under a new name, thus preserving the previous document.
This week, I closed and when prompted, clicked save. So I lost my previous
document. How can I recover this?

Look in the folder containing the document. You will find, inshallah, a file
called "Backup of ... .wbk" being the document as it was when you last
opened it. This will be the previous version provided you opened, changed,
and saved in a single session. (This also assumes that you have 'Always
create backup copy' checked on Tools > Options.)

Failing that, restore it from your back-up for that week. And in future,
instead of re-using your documents like this, create a template and create
your documents from that.
