Do you keep in touch with the VIP forums at all ?

There are ~1800 threads in there, and many tales of woe based on
BIOS version used. You might also investigate the driver situation.
I don't have your board, but it is possible that the IDE interface
uses either the Microsoft default IDE driver, or it could be using
whatever Nvidia bundles in the chipset driver.
I used this, to find two different versions of drivers. The second
driver mentions 680i.

This is what is offered in 9.64.

Windows XP Driver Versions:
* Ethernet Driver (v67.74) WHQL
* Network Management Tools (v67.74) "Sedona"
* SMBus Driver (v4.62) WHQL
* Installer (v5.73)
* SataRAID Driver (v9.99.09) WHQL
* SataIDE Driver (v9.99.09) WHQL <---- Installation optional ?
* RAIDTOOL Application (v9.99.09) "Sedona"
It is possible, when you installed the chipset drivers, that
tick boxes were offered for a custom install. At that point,
people don't necessarily install everything that is offered.
To try the Microsoft default IDE driver for example, you
might untick the SataIDE driver box.
