Installed SP2 from CD,computer rebooted ok and the security screen
opened.Opened MSN sign in to go online,a message popped up saying that my
modem was in use or not working and to try signing on again.I checked Modem
properties and it said the modem was working normally.Opened Network Manager
and there was no MSN connection there.Tried to make a new connection with New
Connection Wizard but connect using a Dial-Up Modem was dimmed out.The only
connection availlable was "Connect using a broadband connection that is
always on".

Have you had a look at the hardware manufacturer's website for an update
for your modem?

i have experienced this problem on 2 different machines; in different
locations and with different isp's. the problem only seems to occur after sp2
installations. I have had different error messages but generally the modem
does not respond when a dial-up connection was attempted. i have also managed
to connect both the computers using my own broadband modem/isp. -no errors
occured and connection was normal. i would like to hear if anyone has
resolved this problem or could give any insight into the cause of it. i am
currently investigating the anti-spyware program ad-aware and possible
interuption problems with its scanning and identification processes and SP2's
Security Center.
