My network has been operating fine for a year with 2 XP Pro SP2 PCs.
A few days ago, PC 2 failed to come up on the network (PC2 works
fine otherwise). It does show that it is connected in the network
status at 100mbps but no IP address are any other info.
Replaced the router (we keep an identical router preconfigured and
regularly tested),
replaced the NIC and installed new driver on PC2,
checked cat5e cabling with an Ethernet cable tester,
Tried a "Repair" and receive the message "Failed to query TCP/IP
settings. Cannot proceed."
PC1 works fine and connects through the router to the Internet,
Cannot ping PC2 from PC1,
Cannot ping 127.0.0.1 from PC2 and get the message "Unable to
contact IP driver Error Code 2.",
When running ipconfig /all from PC2, receive a message "Unable to
query host name".
We are in need of help - Thanks in advance!
