lost cd writer????

only just noticed this, but my cd writer isnt listed in
my computer, the drawer will only open while booting up
and device manager is only showing the dvd drive, there
isnt even the yellow question mark to say it recognises
theres something there. it used to work. i also seem to
have acquired a football icon in place of the hard drive
icon, it tries to load a football game, which i have
deleted, but the icon remains and still tries to load
this game - and things were going so well!! can anyone
help?????

Your CD-RW might be defective or you could try this
