LOST ALL SOUND

I have no sound at all, even the systems sounds. (trouble is shooter no help,
Ive tried that already)
When I first start up the computer there is a loud beep, but I dont think
thats part of my speaker sounds.
I have gone to the Device Manager and checked the drivers.
Under properties everything says the "Device is working properly"
When I go to the volume control settings, it is "Greyed out" and says "No
Audio Device".
My sound device is onboard.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I am a beginner.

Hi Mark. Have you got your Motherboard CD ?. The sound drivers should be on
that.
But first, restart your computer, dab Del key to go into the BIOS, and check
thro` the tabs to make sure your onboard sound is switched ON. Save the
setting when you Exit.

What changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't?
Uninstall the drivers and reinstall them unless you updated drivers
from Windows Update. If you did the latter, roll them back (see link
below). Get the drivers from:

1. The motherboard mftr.'s website since hardware is onboard; OR
2. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM
computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the
drivers.

If you have installed drivers from Windows Update, you can roll them
back:

If rolling back/uninstalling-reinstalling drivers doesn't work, then
your hardware may have a problem. Get a PCI sound card and disable
onboard sound in the BIOS. You can buy a basic PCI sound card for under
$25usd.

1st, thank you for trying to help me.
I only have a restore CD that came with the computer when I bought it.
I used that to restore it back to its original state, when everything worked
fine.
This still did not help.
I chekced the BIOS as you said and it says it is enabled.

I think I may have to just buy a sound card and disable the onboard crap.
Unless you have any other suggestions?

Thanks for trying to help me.
I have Restored my computer back to its original state when everything was
working fine. I used the RESTORE CD that came with my computer, but I am
still not having any luck. I think I may have to just buy a sound card and
disable the onboard sound as you have mentioned.
