Lost All File Names

S

Searcher7

In one particular folder on my desktop all the files no longer have
labels underneath them. And I now have to open a file in order to find
out what it is.

Even though I changed no settings the file names have completely
disappeared. I don't have this problem within any other folder on my
desktop, so I was wondering if any one had any idea on how I can get
the names of all the text and image files back.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

What do you see when you switch to Detail View?

Try keeping the [Shift] key pressed, while (at the same time) using the
mouse to change to "Detailed view" and back to "Thumbnail view" again...

When I right click and go to "View" on the menu there are five
options.

Details, List, Icons, Tiles, and Thumbnails. The file names show with
all of them except the format I want to view them in, which is
Thumbnails. ?!?

And the reason I use Thumbnails is because that is the the only one
that allows viewing of all the image files without having to open
them.

Thanks.

Viewing by Thumbnails will not have the File names show. That is by default. You
cannot do anything about that

Searcher,
Don't think - just do this!......I repeat......

In "Thumbnail view", keep the [Shift] key pressed, while (at the same time)
using the
mouse to change to "Detailed view" and back to "Thumbnail view" again...

Hey presto! - The names are back again!

You can repeat the above step once more to return to nameless mode!!!!

It didn't work the first couple of time I did it, so I tried it again
today and I got the file names back.

Thanks a lot.
