Lost Administrator status

My initial set-up for User Accounts for the past two years was with three
administrators and one guest. My 22 year old son has now returned home and
since then I have noticed I have lost my ability to be the administrator.
When I recently checked my User Accounts I found that all administrators and
the guest accounts are gone and my personal status has been changed to
"limited". I have tried to change them back but I must be an administrator
to do so and I am only in a "limited" status. My Windows XP for Dummies,
Woody Leonhard, pg 47, says that you can't delete your own account, but it
has been changed to limited and I can't change it back. How can I change it
back to an administrator?

Ask your 22 year old son.

My son is unavailable at the present time, but even if he did change the
settings, how do I change it back? I have had to restore other settings on
numerous occasions but this is the first time regarding Users Account. We
are subject to many power outings, if that may be a factor.

Login in to the "Hidden" Administrator Account.
This account should show up when you start up in (F8) Safe Mode.

I need some help in how to start up in (F8) Safe Mode. I tried by pressing
F8 as Windows XP was starting, but nothing happened.

Simply log in using the built-in Administrator account (which
cannot be deleted) and modify the desired account(s). By design, the
only way to log into the Administrator account of WinXP Home is to
reboot into Safe Mode. For WinXP Pro, pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at
the Welcome Screen will produce the standard login dialog box.

Start tapping F8 soon as computer starts to boot. You have to catch it
"before" the status bar at the bottom starts scrolling across the screen. Of
course if you get to Windows logo screen you're way too late.

Might take a few tries but you'll get it.

Okay, I finally got it! I changed everything back to the way it is supposed
to be. Thanks!
