Loss of text color when pasting from Excel into Powerpoint

I have an interesting problem whereby when i paste a selected area in excel
and paste, either as a picture or enhanced metafile, the colors in the text i
am pasting turn to black. this was working previously and for some reason,
just stopped in the middle of the slide presentation. i have tried opening a
new slide presentation, blank slides, and re-pasting all with the same
result. I have tried this from different workstations, and i still get black
text when i paste from the excel file. any ideas what might be causing this
or this a common problem?

My guess: Your default printer is set to a black and white printer. Try
setting the default printer to be a color printer instead. It should work
better. You don't need to have the color printer attached. You just need to
have the drivers installed.
