Losing Internet connection after about 5 minutes

I recently added broadband to home. I installed a wireless router also for
our laptop. Initially everything worked fine. Now, the desktop which is
hardwired to the router will allow you to browse for 5-10 minutes and then
just stop. The laptop can still access the internet through the wireless
access point. It seems the cable modem and the router are okay. Why is the
cabled desktop stopping access after about 5 minutes? If you reboot, you get
about the same 5-10 minutes before it stops. Doesn't lock up, just can't
find any web pages after that time.
