loosing the connectivity

The problem
I have 3 brand new computers from Dell - 2 laptops and a workstation
first of all the log-on proccess takes ages (i'm on the win 2000 domain with
dhcp server)
after a while these machines are loosing the connectivity with the network
i disable the firewall etc but no success
any ideea?

I have the same problem as you. I've had it before and it was solved on this
site by another user. I can't remember how the connectivity drop problem was
solved but I do have a solution for the slooooooow log-on process.

To fix your logon problem make sure you specify a DNS. Once I have my XP Pro
machines pointed to a specific DNS server they log-on quick as lightning.

As for the connectivity problem I too have an XP pro machine connected to
our Server 2003 machine. After about 10 hours or so it simply loses network
connections. It can still get to the internet but seems to no longer have any
rights to the server. I must restart the machine to refresh the connection
and give me another 10 hours. Any help would be appreciated.

I was having the same problem with my XP Pro clients and just now solved the
problem.

Once I pointed my DNS record to my server instead of my ISP, it corrected
the problem.
