Loosing LAN connection

Have a customer with a 2 pc peer 2 peer going through a d-link
router. These are primarily used for quickbooks, with the data file
being kept on one pc. For about the last 2 weeks the pc that connects
over the network to the data file will suddenly loose the network
connection for a couple of seconds, then it regains it again. I does
this about 10 to 20 times per day.. When this happens, quickbooks shuts
down..

The pc with the data file is about 2 years old running w2k.

The one that looses the connection is about 2 months old, with xp pro.

It has an intel 945 board with the dual core cpu. I put in a pci nic
and disabled the onboard nic in bios and windows. Replaced the cable.
Ran all updates and removed all spy files etc. It runs fine, then a
message will pop up saying the network connection has been lost, and a
few seconds later its back up again.. ??????

Since you know it isn't the NIC or cable, and if the computer is 100%
virus/malware-free, try a different router. Or in the meantime, put the
cable into a different port on the router.
