Long links don't work. Why?

Hi,

Hyperlinks in an email work fine IF the link is only one line long.

But if the URL wraps, OL links to only the first line! This is easy to
see as the first line of the url is shown in blue. The remainder is not.

If I copy/paste the entire, multiline link into the browser address bar
it works fine.

This is no OL2003. I tried the same thing on another PC also using
OL2003 and it works fine.

What's wrong and how do I fix it?

Thanks for your help,

Frank

if they exceed the line length and you use plain text email, they will
break. If you use HTML they should wrap correctly.

As I said, I checked the SAME email message with the SAME links on
another PC with the SAME version of OL. So why does it work on one PC
and not work on the other? There HAS to be another reason.

Further, it wouldn't be possible for me to tell all people, companies,
etc. who email me that they have to change the way the send email.

Thanks for your help,

Frank

Hyperlinks in an email work fine IF the link is only one line long.

That you send or that you receive?
What version of Outlook?
What type of mail server?

Off the cuff, something is doing line breaks after ~80 characters, thus interrupting
the hyperlink.

Hi,

Plese see my answers to your ?'s above.

It's breaking whereever it can. Here's an example (I've changed portions
of the url that might identify the user to the web site):

xxxxxxxxxxx_xxxxxxxxxxxx_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

The point is that in the non-working system only the first line is
highlighted as the link. Clicking on the link only sends the first line to
the browser. Clicking on the 2nd line does nothing b/c it's not a link.

On the working computer the entire url is in the link.

So it's not a wordwrap issue. The problem seems to be that OL (on the non-
working system) doesn't know what to include in the link.

Thanks for your feedback,

Frank

Hyperlinks in an email work fine IF the link is only one line long.

OK, the machine in question did not have the reading pane open. The user
was double clicking on the subject to open the message body in a new
window.

With the reading pane open, MOST but not all links work properly. A few
links that wrap to four lines only highlight the first three and
therefore still don't work. However some similar lines do work properly.

I tried turning off the reading pane on the machine that had been working
and it has the exact same problem!

So now I'm thinking this is a bug in OL2k3. I know that seems odd since
that version has been out for quite some time and should be debugged by
now.

It's also strange that noone on this board seems to be aware of the bug
or know what to do about it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Frank
